i am involved in synthesis of 2-azido 2-deoxy glucose, i am following the procedure given in the article " Metal catalysed diazo tranfer for the synthesis of Azides from amines" Tetrahedron letters,Vol.37 No.34. pp 6029-6032. 1996. in this article TfN3 is generated first from Tf2O( triflic anhydride) and NaN3 ,then it is reacted with sugar in presence of k2CO3 and CuSO4. pls some one let me know what is the exact mechanism or the reference which talks about the mechanism of Diazo transfer. particularly role of CuSO4.
with best regards
